Using Online Therapy to Reduce Anxiety

You have a busy schedule, deadlines, relationships to tend to, and you try to keep your home in some kind of order. It can be so overwhelming at times. You're worried about getting things done. You worry if you are doing things good enough. And, you're trying to be everything you think you should be, or at least what everyone else thinks you should be.

An upset businesswoman pinches her nose as she sits at her desk. Online therapy for anxiety in North Carolina can help people overcome stress. Contact an online anxiety therapist for support with CBT for anxiety online and other services.

The anxiety has controlled you for so long. Now, you’re tired.

But with everything you have going on, anything extra often gets put on the back burner. Especially if it involves taking better care of yourself. This goes for therapy appointments too. It’s challenging to leave the office early, let alone 5 PM, to get to an appointment across town.

Benefits of Using Online Therapy for Anxiety

  1. Time and Flexibility

This may be my number one reason for using online therapy for anxiety. No longer do you have to try and get your therapy appointments at the end of the workday. With the flexibility of online therapy, you can make therapy work with your schedule.

  2. From the Comfort of Your Own Space

Start online anxiety therapy from a place where you feel calm, comfortable, and safe. When you come into anxiety therapy feeling these things, it allows for some of the best work to happen.

  3. No more googling “anxiety therapist near me”

The best therapist for you may not live in your town, county, or region. With the benefit of online therapy, the best therapist for you might be on the other side of the state. And with technology, you can connect with a skilled anxiety therapist. That’s pretty cool!

  4. Continuity

No longer do you have to miss an appointment because you are finally able to take that vacation. Or, because you are going from college to home, and back to college again. As long as you're in Maryland or North Carolina your online therapy sessions are possible!

YES! Online therapy is very effective in treating anxiety and anxiety-related disorders. Studies have shown using online cognitive behavioral therapy for anxiety is very effective. For more info, check out this article from the National Center for Health Research here.

At Calm Waters Counseling, I use various anxiety treatments with my anxiety clients. In specific, I use Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), mindfulness techniques, and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT)

These treatments help to:

  • Reduce anxiety by providing coping skills to use,

  • Challenge and reframe thoughts,

  • Identify how anxious thoughts relate to anxious feelings and behaviors,

  • Help to establish goals and find solutions.

I am a Maryland native and the hustle and bustle of the DMV is one of the reasons why I left and sought a more relaxed vibe. So I get it! You may work in Germantown, MD, and have to travel back to Frederick, MD to get to an appointment at 5:30 PM. In this case, you have to plan to leave your office by 4 PM!

By using online therapy you can skip all the traffic and start therapy from your office or your home. No more extra stop on the way. You can get home earlier, relax, prep for dinner, and then hop on your laptop and meet with your anxiety therapist.
