6 Things Women Entrepreneurs Can Do To Overcome Imposter Syndrome
Imposter syndrome can have you doubting yourself, stuck in the perfectionism loop, and leave you comparing yourself to your badass business buddy that you constantly cheer on.
The negativity can drown you.
Simply saying that out loud feels gross and unfortunately as women business owners and entrepreneurs chances are at some point you will catch yourself in that negativity.
Listed below are 6 ways entrepreneurs and business owners can overcome imposter syndrome.
Tip #1 to Overcome Entrepreneur Imposter Syndrome: Acknowledge your feelings
The first step to overcoming imposter syndrome is to simply acknowledge your feelings. It’s normal to feel like you’re not good enough or that you don’t deserve your success. Recognizing these feelings is an important step in overcoming them.
Tip #2 to Overcome Entrepreneur Imposter Syndrome: Talk about your feelings
Once you’ve acknowledged your feelings, it’s important to talk about them with someone you trust. This could be a friend, family member, or even a fellow entrepreneur.
Talking about your imposter syndrome can help you to better understand it and start to work through it.
Tip #3 to Overcome Entrepreneur Imposter Syndrome: Mindset matters
One of the best ways to overcome imposter syndrome is to reframe your thinking.
Instead of thinking “I’m not good enough,” try thinking “I’m doing the best I can.” This simple change in thinking can make a big difference in how you feel about yourself and your business.
Tip #4 to Overcome Entrepreneur Imposter Syndrome: Be kind to yourself
It’s also important to be kind to yourself when you’re dealing with imposter syndrome.
This means being gentle with yourself and cutting yourself some slack.
Self-compassion is so important and yet often overlooked.
Remember that everyone makes mistakes and that it’s okay to not be perfect all the time.
Tip #5 to Overcome Entrepreneur Imposter Syndrome: Acknowledge your achievements
Brag on yourself. Yeah, I said it.
One of the best ways to help you work through imposter syndrome is by reminding yourself of all the things you did to get yourself to this point.
No minimizing allowed either.
Try keeping a brag book or a photo album on your phone of moments (personally and professionally) that shows you these moments.
